Home » electrician tips, FAQ, News » Should I Get Under Cabinet Lighting For My Kitchen?
Jun, Sun 26th, 2022 Posted in : electrician tips, FAQ, News By : CES 0 Comments

If you are looking into getting your kitchen remodeled or just want to do touch-ups there is a lot that can be done with lighting. Lighting has a profound effect on how a space looks and feels. From the luminosity of the light to the temperature and color. You can make a room look warmer or brighter. Light of course also has a lot of utility, having lights in the right place can make cooking easier. Placement of lighting matters a lot as well. For example, many people get lighting underneath their kitchen cabinets to provide lighting on their counters.

Benefits of Battery Powered Under Cabinet Lighting

There are a variety of lighting options underneath your cabinets. Battery-powered options include strips as well as lighting pucks that can attach to your cabinets and provide direct light onto your counters. There is an obvious benefit because these lights can be installed quickly and easily. However, because they are battery powered you will consistently have to uninstall them, replace the batteries, and reinstall them. Additionally, turning them on isn’t done from a simple light switch and may need to be done individually for each light.

Benefits Of Hardwired Cabinet Lighting

Hardwired lighting allows you to connect your lights directly to your electrical system and light switches. This makes it easy to turn on all of your cabinet lights at once. LED lights provide a great light source while also being good for the environment. The only negative of hardwire lights is that they need to be professionally installed. But installation is a quick and easy process for an experienced residential or commercial electrician.

Benefits of Plugin Cabinet Lighting

Another option for counter lighting is a plug-in light. Like a battery light, these lights are easy to install and are attached just underneath the cabinets. But instead of using batteries, they are plugged into an outlet in your kitchen. There are two drawbacks here. First, this removes one potential outlet for your kitchen appliances. Second, the light is not controlled via a light switch but is controlled at the plug or at a switch that is attached to the light.
