Blizzard | Cardoso Electrical ServicesWe all have gone through those treacherous storms in New England. Whether you live in Newton, Quincy, Cambridge or a suburb like Waltham and Winchester, the snow seems to pile on fast. Living without electricity even for an hour can seem like an absolute nightmare. When this occurs, follow some tips from the professional electricians at Cardoso Electrical Services.

Turn your refrigerator to the coldest settings to preserve food in case power goes out.

Never use your generator from the garage or inside the home. This will surely produce deadly carbon monoxide poisoning so please, only use a generator in a ventilated space.

Connect appliances to the generator rather than your home wiring. A backfeed could occur into the utility lines which will kill or seriously injure someone when they attempt to get the power back on.

Unplug all appliances except for one light because power surges are extremely common during power outages.

If you have suffered from electrical failure or need your wires looked at, contact Cardoso Electrical Services. Our team of talented electricians will gladly service Newton, Quincy, Cambridge, Somerville, Allston and the Greater Boston area. We also work commercially and have years of experience as certified industrial technicians.
