LED bulb

You likely have heard about LED lighting over the past five years as it has grown in popularity. What you may not have heard is what exactly LED lighting is, how it works, and why you should care. Continue reading for everything you need to know about LED lighting.

What Does LED Mean?

The acronym LED stands for light-emitting diode. The major difference between LED lighting and other forms is the efficiency of the products. LED bulbs and other forms of lighting are about 90% more efficient than incandescent products. The comparison seems unbelievable but most homes are completely lit with incandescent lighting options.

How Exactly Do LED Bulbs Work?

LED bulbs are designed to pass the electrical current through a microchip, illuminates the light sources known as LEDs. This process creates a significant amount of heat which is then absorbed into a heat sink within the bulb, preventing any issues.

How Long Do LED Bulbs Last?

LED products are known for their lifespan, thanks to how efficiently they run. On average, an LED bulb will last about 50,000 hours which is nearly 50 times as long as incandescent light bulbs. If you use an LED bulb for 12 hours a day, it will last over 11 years!

How Can LED Bulbs Help Me?

LED lighting sources run so efficiently that they save you money on both home supplies and your electric bill. Without having to replace light bulbs and other sources as often, you will save money on replacement costs. LED lighting has also been proven to increase the value of homes. You will also see a decrease in your electric bill overtime after replacing your bulbs with more efficient options.
