Between the increase in heat and hot water used during the colder months, most families bills tend to increase this time of year. Use our guide for ways to cut your electricity bill this month and start saving today!

Be Conscious of Your Heat Dial

Many people keep their home heated at a higher temperature than it needs to be for the house to stay warm. Consider trying to turn the heat down a few degrees lower than it typically is and see if you are still comfortable. Try wearing a sweater instead of a t-shirt around the house and you can immediately see a difference in the amount of heat you’re using each month.

Clean Your Furnace Filter

A dirty furnace filter could be causing your heating system to work much harder than it needs to. Clean your furnace’s filter every two months to be sure it is clean enough

Check Your Refrigerator

Odds are your refrigerator isn’t running as efficiently as it could be for several reasons. Check out our recent blog post about ensuring your refrigerator is running as it should be for the easiest ways to decrease the amount of energy your refrigerator is using.

Weather-proof Your Home

Be conscious of the changing seasons and be sure your home is adjusted as well. Before the cold winter approaches, be aware of the insulation situation in your home as well as any cracks or openings that could be letting in cold air. This will surely increase your heating bill so be sure to get these issues settled for the colder months.
