Dental Tooth Bonding

If your teeth are slightly crooked, chipped, ragged, have gaps, or have low bite pressure, you may be a great candidate for tooth bonding. Tooth bonding is a white filling material made out of resin that can be attached to the enamel of your teeth on a microscopic level. When put in place by expert cosmetic dentists like ours, tooth bonding can change the size, shape, and color of teeth without a complicated procedure or surgery.

Tooth bonding is a cost-effective alternative to porcelain veneers or tooth crowns, and requires very little preparation. Depending on the amount of tooth bonding that you need, bonding can often be completed in as little as one office visit - taking approximately 30 to 60 minutes per tooth.

The basic procedure consists of roughening the surface of the teeth that will be bonded so the resin material can easily adhere to the tooth. Next, the tooth-colored resin is applied and molded into the desired shape. Once in place, the resin is hardened using ultraviolet light, before it is trimmed and polished to match the sheen of your teeth. Less tooth enamel is affected than if the patient has veneers or crowns put in place, and anesthesia is generally not required.
