CEREC Crowns Q & A

What are CEREC® crowns?

cerecCEREC crowns are dental restorations manufactured using state-of-the-art CAD/CAM technology. In the past, if you chipped, cracked, or damaged a tooth your dentist might recommend a crown.

However, traditional crowns required a series of appointments and a time-consuming molding and manufacturing process. CEREC crowns provide a much better fit and are also easier to make. In fact, the entire process takes only two hours.

During a CEREC procedure, your Varinos Dental Associates of Newburyport provider takes digital impressions of your teeth and makes your crown right in the office using a cutting-edge milling machine. By the time your appointment is over you leave the office with a fully restored tooth.

What are the benefits of CEREC crowns?

  • CEREC crowns provide a wide array of benefits, including:
  • No unpleasant impression material
  • No follow-up appointments
  • No bothersome temporary prosthesis
  • Long-term stability

CEREC crowns mimic the color, strength, and light-reflecting properties of your natural tooth enamel. What’s more, CEREC treatment is gentle on your teeth, protects your tooth from wear-and-tear damage, and presents a metal-free restoration option to people with allergies.

What’s involved in getting a CEREC crown?

The team at Varinos Dental Associates of Newburyport manufactures and applies CEREC crowns in their comfortable, state-of-the-art offices.

First, your dentist consults with you about the CEREC process. Next, your dentist uses a specially designed camera to take digital images of your tooth that’s being treated.

After taking photos, your dentist uploads them into the CEREC computer system and develops a 3D model of your restored tooth.

Your dentist uploads your 3D model into the CEREC milling machine, which manufactures your tooth on-site.

After the milling machine completes your prosthesis, your dentist administers a local anesthetic and bonds your permanent CEREC crown in place. Usually, the entire process takes no more than two hours.

Is a CEREC crown right for me?

To determine if a CEREC crown is right for you, make an appointment at Varinos Dental Associates of Newburyport.

At your initial consultation, your dentist does an oral exam, reviews your medical history, takes a series of digital X-rays, and asks you about your goals for treatment.

After taking all of this information into account, your dentist develops a treatment plan that aligns with your individual needs.

Thanks to CEREC crowns, repairing chipped, cracked, or decaying teeth has never been easier. Book your appointment today by calling the office or clicking the online booking tool.
