Once you have all of the tools you will need to remove your carpet, follow these tips to safely remove your carpet and reduce damage.

  • Remove all furniture from the room to make the process easier
  • Remove all baseboards/moldings/baseboard heater covers that might be covering the edges of the carpet
  • Start by going around the room and lifting up the edges of the carpet with your pliers and utility knife
  • Once you have the edges lifted, use your crowbar to pull back the rest of the carpeting
  • As you lift the carpet up, use your utility knife to cut it into smaller pieces to make removing it from the room and disposing it easier
  • If you have carpet padding installed or having issues pulling up the carpet, use your floor scraper to rip up the staples
