Tips for Removing Your Carpet
Once you have all of the tools you will need to remove your carpet, follow these tips to safely remove your carpet and reduce damage.
- Remove all furniture from the room to make the process easier
- Remove all baseboards/moldings/baseboard heater covers that might be covering the edges of the carpet
- Start by going around the room and lifting up the edges of the carpet with your pliers and utility knife
- Once you have the edges lifted, use your crowbar to pull back the rest of the carpeting
- As you lift the carpet up, use your utility knife to cut it into smaller pieces to make removing it from the room and disposing it easier
- If you have carpet padding installed or having issues pulling up the carpet, use your floor scraper to rip up the staples
