We’d be happy to evaluate your smile and discuss your symptoms to determine if bruxism is something you are suffering from.

About Bruxism

Bruxism is actually the most common sleep disorder. However, it is often misdiagnosed or not diagnosed at all. Due to there being several causes of tooth wear and tear, many patients won’t even notice the damage being caused by bruxism. We recommend a bruxism evaluation to determine if the wear and tear you are experiencing is from clenching and grinding or from other potential causes of wear and tear.

Why Treat Bruxism?

When it comes to bruxism, there are many complications that can occur, making it important to diagnose and treat the condition. Due to damage caused to the teeth and gums, gum recession, tooth loss, occlusal trauma, arthritis of the temporomandibular joints and even facial pain are common among bruxism sufferers. Eventually, damage from the condition can result in extensive damage and the need for invasive and costly procedures.

Bruxism Treatment Options

Although there is no single cure for bruxism and unconscious clenching/grinding, there are various devices and exercises which can be used to reduce symptoms.

  • Mouthguards can be designed from tooth impressions and minimize the damage caused while sleeping. Mouthguards are to be worn while sleeping and can help prevent damage and pain.
  • NTI-tss Devices are fitted by a professional and used to cover the front teeth. NTI-tss devices prevent grinding of the teeth by limiting the contraction of the muscles.
  • Dermal Fillers can also be injected into the patient’s muscles to relax and weaken them.

Along with the above treatment options, stress management, biofeedback and relaxation exercises can also be highly effective. Restorative treatment options may also be recommended to improve the appearance, function, and health of teeth damaged by bruxism.
